529 is created from the desire to see the world from a different perspective. To avoid a high-tech solution, only low-tech materials were used: mirrors, metal-wire and duct tape. These materials resulted in making 529 highly flexible, strong and modular.
529 is made during the Tactile Research Lab at the Royal Academie of the Arts the Hague. At Tactile Research students explore the properties of materials. Doing experiments with these materials is the main focus. Projects created during Tactile Research have been displayed at Milaan and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
Project 529 was displayed at the outdoor arts festival Kunst in Zicht at Marken on the 5th and 6th of June 2010. It was the first time this festival was held and had as special feature that every art piece moved around Marken.
Together with performer Marcos de Souzabello, I showed 520 to the public. During the sunny Saturday the explored the changing of the light-beams. The experiences of the created suit where the main subject during the Sunday. I am really happy with the results of the experiment and the overall very positive feedback of the audience.
