I am a big fan of Anton Pieck because of his ability to create settings we still honour and love today. Think of the stories of 1001 nights and a Christmas Carol for which Anton Pieck made the drawings. Also the Dutch theme park De Efteling was build thanks of the imageneering of Anton Pieck.
To honour his work I chose to study one of Anton’s work in detail and create my own art. I choose the work “Sinterklaastafel” which for me resembles a lot of the fine work of Anton Piek: everything looks old like in the good old days, it has a fairytale feeling, it has cracks in the walls and uses vague colours. In my different works I chose one or more aspects of the “Sinterklaastafel” and highlighted them. The works were displayed and judged at a drawing course I followed at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hage (KABK).
